VG: The state government is on the path of development, what are big projects, which are going to be started soon?
NS: Day one after assuming the charge of government, many development projects were started, which were completed on time and some of them are on the verge of completion now. Some more big projects are still in the pipeline and should be initiated soon, one among them is the ring road project in Jammu. This is a prestigious Jammu project and would take off from Raya Morh in Vijaypur of Samba district and connect with Jammu-Srinagar Highway at Nagrota Bye-pass on NH-1A. This road with a width of 60 meter in plain and 45 meter in hilly areas will pass through Samba, R S Pura, Bishnah and Jammu Tehsils.
With the completion of this prestigious project, the road network in Jammu and Samba would be expanded manifold providing connectivity to about 44 villages of both the districts.
VG: What is the progress of this project?
NS: The work in this regard is in full pace and the DPR of the project has been completed and sent to Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways for consideration, while the land acquisition for the prestigious project is under process and is likely to be completed by March 2017.
Such type of modern and quality infrastructure is essential for speedy development of an area and it is the endeavor of present dispensation to upgrade and strengthen the existing infrastructural edifice in the State.
VG: Many Big projects sanctioned for Jammu region, are still incomplete, why?
NS: The timely and quality completion of projects is priority of the State Government which is pre-requisite for accelerating economic, trade and social activities. The State, during the regime of present Government, is witnessing a tremendous improvement in all fields of development with emphasis on equipping the unattended areas with enhanced basic services.
I have asked the concerned departments to be proactive in their approach towards effective implementation of welfare and development programmes being done in the State.
They have to ensure that all bottleneck impeding project implementation are removed at all levels besides making sure that the timelines fixed are strictly adhered to.
VG: Many tourist places in Jammu including the Patnitop are still being neglected, why?
NS: Government is committed to develop all tourist places in all three regions, where as the development of Patnitop and Kud is concerned, the government is keen to develop Patnitop, Kud area where various projects would be started on PPP mode.
Meanwhile, Suchetgarh border will be developed on the pattern of Wagah border to promote border tourism. The government is going to organize Travel Mart in Jammu to facilitate the hotel, tour and travel industry of Jammu.
In order to boost the ongoing projects, the instructions has been issued to the concerned agencies to expedite the works on already initiated development projects in the city including Tawi Riverfront project, Mubarak Mandi Heritage project, Gandola project and others to attract the tourists coming to the state.
