VG: Despite a huge mandate, BJP ministers failed to give a boost to development activities in Jammu?
LS: This is not true that BJP ministers are failed to give a boost to the development activities in Jammu. Day one after assuming the charge of our ministries, every minister is very keen to boost the development activities in every corner of Jammu as well as the entire state. They have inaugurated several roads, educational and other developmental projects and are committed for the development in all the sectors to bring prosperity to the people of all the regions of the State. Government is working day and night to bring the State up on developmental map in the country.
We need the cooperation from the general masses to turn our dreams into the reality.
VG: Despite enormous tourism potential, Basohli region failed in tourism sector, why?
LS: It is true that Basohli has enormous tourism potential and for this I have directed the Forest Department to develop huts, TOURIST GUEST HOUSES at Sukrala Mata Shrine. In this regard I have also announced Rs 50 lakh for the development of the same.
Besides government’s efforts and initiates, people should come forward to reform their areas, it is a collective community initiative of like-minded people, irrespective of caste, creed and political affiliations for overall self-development must gain the momentum across s the State.
I have also called prominent people of the area to impart skill training like spoken English to improve communication skills, various dance forms, music, self-defence courses to the educated youth.
VG: What is the scope for Kathua to become a tourist destination?
LS: As being the Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecolog, I am trying my best to develop Kathua- the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, as a famous tourist destination of the State.
For evolving Kathua on tourist map, the minister said that Ranjit Sagar Dam will be developed as a modern avenue for water sports activity having all the state of art facilities and tenders for will soon be afloat for purchasing steamers which will not only give impetus to tourism but also improve the socio-economic conditions of the people. The work on stadium will soon begin at Basholi on 200 Kanals of land to promote sports activities in the area.
VG: Drugs as a menace is burning issue today, what you say?
LS: Definitely, drugs as a menace are an issue of grave concern and we must think over this issue as it is related with the healthy life of our younger generation. Daily many cases of drug abuse are registered in the various health centres, though the government is very serious over this issue, but it is also the duty of people to keep an eye over their kids, so that could be saved to become a habitual user of this harmful disease, which is spreading fastly in our society.
One way to save our younger generation from this menace is to divert their minds towards the sports and for this it is need to promote sports culture in our schools so that more and more students should be participate in the sports activities.
I also called upon youth to participate in sports activities wholeheartedly and bring laurels to the State. There is no dearth of talent among the youth of the state, adding that need of the hour is to channelize it in the right direction and make our society healthy.
