VG: Who inspired you to join politics?
SS: Social work and working for the people of my area is my priority and this thing brought me into the politics and after being a MLA and Minister I am trying to fulfill the promises, which I have made with the people of my constituency during the elections.
VG: Your constituency sans basic facilities, why?
SS: It is very unfortunate that the leaders and ministers of previous government in state failed to take any step to provide the people basic facilities. Before the elections, there was no proper road connectivity, no water facility and regular power supply. But now as being a minister, it is my priority to provide them every facility like the people of the entire state are getting, I want to make my constituency as model constituency, which will be equipped with all modern facilities.
VG: Corruption in every department is a big issue, how you tackle this issue?
SS: It is true that corruption is a big issue and every government department is suffering badly due to this menace, but as being a public representative it is our duty to put an end to this menace. It will take some time so weed out the corruption from my department and in this regard, we are going to introduce many reforms in transport department.
VG: Condition of SRTC is very bad, what steps will you take to bring this derailed department back on track?
SS: Though, the condition of SRTC is not good these days and it is entirely due to the negligent attitude of previous government, who failed to take any step to bring this derailed department back on the track.
JKSRTC is an important asset in the kitty of Government and every step will be taken to revive its glory. I want to assure the people that with the same set of people and same infrastructure, the Corporation which has run into losses for decades will see no losses during the financial year 2016-17. Under PPP mode, we have signed an MoU under which a fleet of top class AC buses will be introduced on different routes within two months.
We are going to introduce hi-fi and fully AC buses, which will be on the roads within two months time, people will see a sea change in this debit ridden department. This was not all that the minister for Transport, Sunil Sharma has to say about this department. We will talk more about him and his department, which is a very important department, in next part, till then good bye.
