The government has embarked on a comprehensive plan to ensure that people get quality civic amenities at par with other developed states.
This was claimed by Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh during his exclusive interaction with the Young Bites.

VG: BJP is ruling the state along with the PDP as a coalition partner, what is your strategy to fulfill aspirations of the people?
NS: Day one after the formation of our govt with the support of PDP in J&K, we have has initiated various ambitious projects to make Jammu a modern city and those changes will become visible in coming days. With completion of ambitious tourism centric projects, the city of temples is all set to become an independent tourist destination.
Till date the people of entire state are very happy with the working of this government, which is trying to fulfill the aspirations of people of all three regions. Meanwhile, the package announced by PM Modi of about Rs 80,000 cr is going to complete all development projects, which were abandoned by the previous government in the state.
VG: Out of Rs 80,000 Cr package announced by the PM, how much the state government has been spending on the development?
NS: Out of Rs 80,000 Cr package, announced by the PM Modi, we have spent almost half of the money on the different development projects. Our main thrust is to increase the road connectively and government is very serious about the connectivity. Meanwhile, IIT, IIMC, AIIMS and the other tourism related projects are our priority. We are committed to provide 24x7 power supply to the people of our state.
VG: Traffic lights installed in Jammu are old fashioned, when they are replaced?
NS: Out main thrust is to regulate the traffic in twin cities like Jammu and Srinagar, this is really a big issue and government is also very keen to solve this issue.
Meanwhile, we are going to replace these old fashioned traffic lights with new intelligent traffic lights, this is also a big project and after fulfilling the entire formalities, the government is ready to get install the new intelligent traffic lights in Jammu as well as in the valley.
VG: Non-availability of adequate parking places in Jammu is another issue, how will you solve this issue?
NS: To provide ample place for parking the vehicles of people is duty of government and we are in the final stage to solve this issue permanently. In this regard, we have asked the officers to fast pace the work on the prestigious multi-tier parking being constructed at Panjthirthi and Bus stand, the work on these parking projects is in full swing, we are hopeful that next year both these projects will be competed and people could ample parking space in the city, due to which the issue of traffic congestion in the old city will be solved to much extent.
